Hello!
Let’s talk about bathrooms. The space that gets the least amount of attention or thought when decorating. But, it’s a functional space that gets used every single day, so why not give it some love?
Our bathroom on the main floor is in the center of the home right off of the family room. Originally this space was a closet and the main floor bath is where our pantry will be. This layout felt awkward because you would enter & exit the bathroom right in the middle of the kitchen.
My sister, who is a quick thinker, walked through the space and immediately said, “the bathroom should be your pantry and you should move your bathroom to that closet space” DUH! It was so obvious that i was slightly embarrassed I hadn’t thought of it. So, that is exactly what we did and now the whole floor feels more functional.
For some reason, very early on, I had the idea to make this bathroom very moody and go with a Parisian chic style. To me, Parisian chic means keeping classic pieces and adding a twist of modern to make the space feel new again. I want the whole space to be grounded in the classics like subway tile in the shower, a mosaic floor tile, and adding box molding on the walls. I also want to add a floral wallpaper to the top half of the walls that will complement the dark green paint color. This space doesn’t have any natural light so dark walls might seem like the wrong choice, but to get that moody vibe I’m going all in.
Of course it can’t be called Parisian without a gilded mirror! As you probably know, gilded mirrors can be very expensive, so stay tuned for a little DIY coming soon!
I’m guessing the ultimate question might be- why so much thought and time and planning in a guest bath? And the answer is- I have no idea! Truly, this idea just came to me and lately I have decided to just embrace it and go with my crazy ideas!
I linked all of the styles and ideas below, so feel free to start getting inspired for your next project!
